The Hevert-Arzneimittel GmbH & Co. KG produces and distributes homoeopathic medicines which are marketed throughout Germany and, in future, even internationally. Just as for any other producing company, this constitutes an enormous logistic effort, which can only be managed by means of modern information technologies. Up to now, Hevert-Arnzeimittel has used a historically grown IT-landscape consisting of 21 servers on which different operating systems, programs and databases were installed. The problem: Each individual server consumes electricity and produces waste heat, although they each used only 5 percent of their computing capacity. Since May 2011, Hevert Arzneimittel has been using three new, more efficient servers for the same work. Now the utilization ratio is 65 percent. Moreover, in case of a failure, the work of the failing server is immediately taken on by another one. The advantage of the new "Green-IT-Concept": employees can continue to work without interruption in case of a defect, since the company technicians are not required to intervene in the hardware. Program and data are always available. Furthermore, the company optimized its air-conditioning system and replaced defective illuminants by identical ones which consume less watts, but nevertheless provide sufficient luminosity. The result: Hevert-Arnzeimittel reduces its electricity demand in administration by almost half.

Since the company’s foundation in 1956 by Dorothea and Emil Hevert, Hevert-Arzneimittel has been run as an independent family-owned business. Following Dr. Wolfgang Hevert, the enterprise is now managed in the third generation by Mathias Hevert.

The company’s headquarters are located in the village of Nussbaum, not far away from the Rhine-Main metropolitan region and the town of Mainz, embedded in an idyllic tributary valley of the river Nahe.

EffCheck

Der EffCheck bietet Unternehmen in Rheinland-Pfalz die Möglichkeit mit Hilfe eines externen Beraters Kosteneinsparpotenziale in der Produktion aufzudecken. In einem bewährten und gestaffelten Verfahren wird in einem Kooperationsprojekt zwischen dem Land Rheinland-Pfalz, dem Berater und dem Betrieb ein Maßnahmenplan erstellt.

1. Initialgespräch – Ermittlung der Ist-Situation Ihres Unternehmens und Abschätzung eines möglichen Verbesserungspotenzials anhand von Maßnahmen zum Produktionsintegrierten Umweltschutz (PIUS).

2. Makroanalyse – Aufnahme und Erstellung einer Ist-Bewertung des Betriebsablaufes, so z.B. die Visualisierung von Produktionsabläufen anhand von Flussdiagrammen. Weiterhin werden unterschiedliche PIUS-Ansätze herausgearbeitet, bewertet und auf ihre technische Realisierbarkeit überprüft.

3. Mikroanalyse – Anhand von ökonomischen und ökologischen Daten wird eine detaillierte Datenbasis für zwei bis drei Erfolg versprechende PIUS-Ansätze ermittelt.

4. Maßnahmenplan – Entwicklung eines konkreten Maßnahmenplans auf Basis der Ergebnisse des EffChecks zur Steigerung der Ressourceneffizienz Ihres Unternehmens.
